Synopsis:

Meet the greatest forger in the history of Spain. Directed by Goya Awards winner Kike Maíllo and filmed in the United States, Italy and Spain, it introduces us to Oswald Aulestia Bach, a Catalan artist hunted for years by the American justice system for being one of the cornerstones of the so-called " Operación Artista ", an FBI investigation, in collaboration with the Mossos d'Esquadra (the Catalan police) and the Carabinieri, to imprison those responsible for one of the biggest art forgery schemes in recent decades.

"El falsificador" (“The forger”) traces the fascinating story of his life, full of excesses, swindles and deceits. Hidden behind mirrored glasses and a cap, and with his distinctive moustache, Oswald is a singular character through whom the film reflects on the concepts of original and copy, reality and legend, truth and lie. It is difficult to know how much of what Oswald tells us is real, and how much is an invention dedicated to extolling his myth.
